I have arranged to ride in the Cheaha Challenge Century on Sunday. I am riding up with Richmond so I can snooze a couple of extra minutes on the way there. After getting in around 12:15 and getting back up by 4am, I will be operating on very little sleep. I may be one tired puppy. I guess I should try to sleep late Saturday morning and get some extra rest tomorrow as well. I don't know if that plan will work but it is worth a try. Mike had some good thoughts about taking it easy to climb all those big hills. He suggested using the granny gear to get up the bigger hills. There are some really good SAG stops that have lots of food and drink. I also understand that the first 20 miles is flat. That will be a nice feature when heading out to get the legs warmed up. On the way back, you can expect headwind. That won't be so fun. Who knows how it will go. Yesterday, I rode out to Bull Gap and was really done in by it. I went a little too quick and got pretty tired on the climb. I may have been needing more rest after two centuries in Florida. Now I will be doing another one. Then in less than a week, I will be doing another one in Georgia. Just a glutton for punishment I'd say.

The big tractor made short work on the main north fields and David helped me with the field across from the pond. The grass had grown quite long and with the two week absence, I simply started and mowed all of them. There is always some mowing to do. At least no trees had fallen. There were some indoor projects pending. A couple of shower fixtures had to be replaced. The screen door latch didn't hold and had to be improved. The old JD mower needed a bit of tuning so it would climb better and the mowing deck replaced. And the garden needed to be disked and more corn and okra planted. David should have had a shot on the groundhog at the old house but forgot to check his ammo. The hammer fell on an empty chamber. I got the conibear traps out and caught one of the groundhogs that lived by the spring. David had ...
