Time to go....

The day is upon us. Mike and Mitzi are down. Paul and Cheryl are ready to go. Chris will have an interview that he will have to do so he probably won't get to come down. Mother seems to be at a good place so I am thinking the girls will be able to handle things. My plan is to begin to relax as soon as I am off so I can slow down my mind and my pace. The past 8 weeks leading up to today have passed so quickly it is amazing. Now I would prefer the days to pass slowly. To allow us to smell the roses.

Inbetween events...

Another Metric Century is done. It was a great event. Good weather and a really good turnout. We made about $900 apiece for the Scholarship and the Trail. Mission accomplished. I am proud of my little event. If it doubles up again next year, it really will be an event. Now I am ready for the Florida Bicycle Safari. I really need this break. The forecast for the week looks good. Warm days and cool nights. Only one day with rain in the forecast, but it is Florida. This is normally the driest month of the year down there. Maybe we won't have all those showers to get everything wet like that other year. It will be good food and riding and friends.

Second ride...

We had another great ride on Saturday. The weather was excellent. Dogwoods were bursting out in blooms. Here we are at the 8 mile post on Bill's Creek Loop. The new tandem performs great on the trail. The combination of stiffness and light weight really gets us through there.

Tsunami....

Bev and I took our first official ride on the MTB tandem I built. What a great ride. The lightweight and stiff frame really helped translate power to the wheels. It flew. I'll have to check out the nuts and bolts for tightness but I expect we will get out riding it again very soon. I was telling Bev how the 2 less teeth for each of the chain rings made so much difference in climbing power, it made me think of Mater from the cars movie. With the new bike being mostly red, it made me think of calling it "Mater" or "2-Mater". We got some photos of the woods this morning. With the Dogwoods blooming, it was pretty but still not up to peak yet. Maybe the low of 28 expected Monday night won't hurt the blossoms. Still a couple of weeks till the Safari. We are doing more riding to be ready. We have the girls on standby for Mawmaw. All we need to do is get throught these weeks without injury.
