After the Mercedes...

Its a struggle here in the early part of 2012 to get any cycling in. This has been a wet winter. Our lake is full and the woods are full of wet weather streams. Very nice for nature, not so good if you want to bike ride. My alternative training for a marathon has taken first place many of those days. Some colder days have put me on the treadmill for training but after doing the Mercedes Half Marathon on a 19 degree morning, cold clearly is a relative concept. So running today in the 40's with a light rain didn't seem so cold. The Mercedes Half wasn't as hard as I'd expected. The cold wasn't the problem I feared it might be but a little warmer temp would have been welcome. I rolled through the course with a better speed than expected. It was very interesting to be running among the downtown buildings. The course ranged over to Highlands and near St. Vincent's. It was a joy to do and I think I may run the full Marathon in 2013. But for now, on to the New River Hal
